Final day to plant!

We are at the tail end of the planting season, so today I planted my spring flowering bulbs. They chilled out in my fridge (not in my crisper and away from all fruit and veggies since they stunt bulb growth) for 6 weeks, so they were ready.

All I did to prepare the bed today was put down half a bag of gypsum and mixed it in with some dried leaves that also had some pine needles in it. That’s it. That’s all I did to feed those babies.

Here’s what I planted today:
*Freesia (those didn’t chill in the fridge–they don’t need chill hours to blood. They’re from Africa)
*hyacinths
*tulips
*daffodils
*paper whites (a smaller version of daffodils that are white and bloomer sooner)

I was also surprised to find my artichoke I’d planted last year has sent up some shoots and is growing very well. I love it when that happens. When they just decide to come back and visit me again on their own. I’ll be putting some compost down around it this weekend.

Also, I’d like to let you all know I’ll be closing this blog soon. It renews at the end of the year and I can’t really justify paying for a blog I don’t use very often. I’ll keep posting gardening videos on youtube from time to time, so you can always follow me there.

Thanks everyone so much for following me, for your feedback on all the things I’m passionate about.

Happy gardening, writing and reading to you.
